Detox Foods for Glowing Skin

Do you remember the days when all we need to do for healthy glowing skin was stay active and clean? We miss those days too!

Skin care after early teens looks quite different. We are constantly under stress and exposed to pollution, heat etc that damages our skin. So what to do to get your glowing skin back? Detox! A food detox can take you a long way, pair it with a slight lifestyle change and you will get your glam back. Incorporate these foods in your diet to repair skin damage, let’s begin-

Artichokes

If you have recently been overindulging in fatty foods and alcohol, adding some steamed globe artichoke leaves to your meals is a great way to help get your body back on track. Globe artichokes are packed with antioxidants and fibre and can also help the body digest fatty foods - Perfect for detoxing!

Beetroot

For those needing a quick health-boosting shot of nutrients, there is nothing better than beetroot. Packed with magnesium, iron, and vitamin C, the vegetable has recently been hailed as a superfood due to its many reported health benefits. Not only is beetroot great for skin, hair and cholesterol levels, but it can also help support liver detoxification!

Kiwi

One cup of peeled kiwifruit contains more vitamin C than the equivalent amount of oranges.

Citrus fruit, and the vitamin C it contains, helps your body detox by supporting your liver and kidneys. The liver and kidneys, then, serve to “scrub” free radicals (pollutants and toxins that can damage your skin) from your body resulting in fewer wrinkles and a clearer complexion!

Brown rice

If you want to cleanse your system and boost your health, it is a good idea to cut down on processed foods. Instead, try supplementing your diet with healthier whole grains such as brown rice, which is rich in many key detoxifying nutrients including B vitamins, magnesium, manganese and phosphorous!

There are many more foods that complement skincare such as tomatoes with the lycopene they contain, almond, avocado and the original ginger! Include these in your regular diet and your skin will become as nourished as it once was!
