Falafel and hummus

Falafel is believed to have originated in Egypt, by the Christian Copts who were forbidden from eating meat during certain holidays. Fava beans were primarily used in the making of falafels but were shortly replaced by chickpeas.

 

Food is an important part of cultural heritage and national identity. It can connect us to people and places, bringing friends and families together. Similarly, falafel and hummus is a traditional dish that takes us on a tour of the cultural and ancient heritage of Egypt.

Since a Falafel is deep-fried in oil, it may be considered unhealthy. but all that oil is balanced out with Hummus; a dip full of protein. made with chickpeas, sesame, olive oil, and garlic, it is the perfect match for these fried treats.
