SUGAR PLAM FRITTERS
Sugar Plam Or Tal is a tropical fruit that grow on palm trees towards the end of monsoon season. It has an extremely sweet odour and an equally sweet taste. They generally contain two, three or four seeds which determine the size of the fruit. When unripe, the fibres of the fruit are white in colour and inedible but the seeds are translucent, soft with almost lychee like appearance and an absolute beauty to taste. The inside of the seed contains a watery substance similar to coconut water. The end of summer in Bengal will mean Bengalis chomping on this delicacy.
