- Boil the diced Amla pieces in a pan till they are softened (almost cooked). Keep them aside for cooling.
- Heat the oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds. When they crackle, add the cinnamon pieces, whole red chilli and cloves simultaneously.
- Now add the brown sugar/ jaggery and excess water left of the boiled Amla.
- Let the sugar be dissolved on medium flame. Stir occasionally. When dissolved add the boiled amla pieces and mix well.
- Let the flame be on sim. Now add the red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
- Mix well and let it cool to room temperature. Store refrigerated and serve with any indian bread and dal or sabji.
