- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Put gram flour in a bowl. Add turmeric powder, salt, chilli powder and carom seeds and mix. Add some water and mix to make a semi-thick batter. Take some water in a bowl and thinly slice the potatoes using a mandolin slicer in it. Add baking soda to the batter and mix well. Drain and dip each potato slice in the batter, put in hot oil directly and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper. Sprinkle some chaat masala on top and serve hot with date-tamarind chutney and red chilli garlic chutney.
