Ingredients

  • Besan
  • Chopped onion
  • Green chillies chopped
  • Crushed coriander seeds
  • Asafoetida
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Oil

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, take the chopped onion, coriander seeds, green chillies, salt, asafoetida, soda and salt. Mix well.
  • Add besan and work on the mixture. The onions will release moisture and you'll find a wet dough.
  • Add 1 tbsp hot oil to the dough and mix very well. Hot oil makes the tikkis crisp!
  • Make an orange sized ball with the dough and put in the hot oil to fry on high flame
  • Once the ball is half fried, take it out of the oil.
  • Carefully flatten the ball to form a fat tikki by keeping the ball in between a kitchen towel and gently pressing it.
  • Now refreshing the tikki once again in hot oil on medium flame till its brown and crisp
  • Serve hot with fried green chillies and chutney and piping hot Chai !! Super tempting perfect indulgence on a rainy day!!

Notes/Tips

Gluten free, this deep fried tikki is super easy to prepare and remains crisp even after it cools down!
