  • Moong Dal Soaked Overnight 200 gms
  • Urad Dal Soaked Overnight 50 gms
  • Salt As per taste
  • Cashew Broken 20 gms
  • Cumin 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida 1 Pinch
  • Tamarind Chutney As Required
  • Beaten Curd 500 gms
  • Chaat Masala For seasoning
  • Black Pepper For seasoning
  • Garam masala For seasoning
  • Red Chilli powder For seasoning
  • Oil For Deep Frying
  • Coriander Chutney If required
  • Pomegranate For Garnish

Instructions

  • Strain both the lentils and blend without adding water. Texture should be not too smooth.
  • Take it into a big Bowl. Add salt and asafoetida and Beat for 15-20 mins. This will make them super soft nd fluffy.
  • Now add cumin and cashews to the batter. Do not overmix after this.
  • Heat the oil in heavy bottom wok in medium flame.
  • Drop the mixture in hot oil spoon by spoon. Deep fry till golden brown.
  • Take a big utensil and fill it up with water. Add 1tsp of salt to it.
  • After Bhallas reach the perfect colour then directly add them to the water.
  • Now arrange the platter for garnish. Squeeze the Bhalla and dip it into curd once.
  • Place the bhalla on platter and pour 2-3 spoonfull of curd over it. Add tamarind chutney and sprinkle all the seasonings.
  • Garnish with pomegranate and serve.
  • You Can sprinkle roasted cumin and green chutney to enhance the taste.

Notes/Tips

Do not fry on high heat otherwise lump will form in between and bhalla won't br cooked from inside.
