Chana masala (Kadala) curry

Ingredients

  • 1 bowl dark chickpeas
  • For gravy- 2 onion, 3 tomatoes, 1/2 cup grated coc
  • 1 inch cinnamon, 2 bay leaves, 1tsp saunf, 1tsp tu
  • For tempering - 1tsp mustard and cumin seeds, 1 ch
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • Small bunch of coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Soak chana overnight. Next day pressure cook by adding 1tsp salt. Take a pan add 1tbs oil. Add spices, saunf and bay leaves and saute. Then add onions and saute till they are soft.
  • Add sliced onions to pan saute till they are mushy. Add coconut, turmeric, salt and saute for few minutes then transfer to a bowl and keep aside. Once cool grind to a paste.
  • Take same pan and add oil. Once hot add mustard and cumin seeds. Once splutter add chopped onion and saute add 1tsp ginger garlic paste. Saute well then add the grinded paste, 2tsp chilli powder, 1tsp coriander powder and 1tsp garam masal. Add cooked chana too. Cook for few minutes. Finally add coriander leaves and off the stove. Serve with puttu or chapathis.
