These tiny sweet round balls would be a treat to your family. It’s super- easy to make. Chocolate boondi are crispy petite- sized golden droplets made with wheat flour and brown sugar. It’s an irresistible and addicting dessert that is a near- constant favorite sweet treat in my house during festivites!! Do you ever come across a recipe that makes you feel nostalgic? For me, chocolate Boondi is one of them, as it always takes me down the memory lane.

Ingredients

  • Semolina - 2 t bsp
  • Brown sugar -1/2 cup
  • Wheat flour - 3/4 cup
  • Cocoa powder - 2.5 tbsp
  • Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Melted unsalted butter - 4 tbsp
  • Lukewarm milk - as required
  • Groundnut oil - as required

Instructions

  • Grind brown sugar and semolina finely.
  • Take a bowl and add wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder whisk them nicely.
  • Add butter to the mixture.Now take some lukewarm milk, add them gradually and mix.
  • Make a thick batter. Now heat oil for deep frying. Oil should be moderately hot. To test, drop a pea size batter in the oil, batter should rise immediately without changing color which means oil is ready for frying boondis.
  • Now hold one slotted ladle just over oil (neither too low nor too high). Use another deep ladle to pour batter over slotted ladle. Pour one ladle full of batter over the slotted ladle and spread in a circular motion by the back of the deep ladle. The batter will fall drop by drop.
  • Fry them till little crispy. Drain and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.Repeat the process with rest of the batter.
  • Store Chocolate Boondi in an air- tight container and serve as needed, as sweet munch after meals.

Notes/Tips

Chocolate boondi, along with spicy sev, is like a match made in heaven. Serve it warm or at room temperature along with sev and get ready to be transported to your childhood with this chocolate boondi and sev combo.
