Chura Matar is a traditional & authentic delicacy of uttar pradesh made with poha (chura) & peas (matar) . It is very much similar to Kanda poha and can be served for breakfast as well as evening snack .

Ingredients

  • 1 cup poha,
  • 1 cup green peas(frozen),
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds,
  • 1/2 inch chopped ginger
  • 3 chopped green chilli
  • pinch of hing,
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala,
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 juice of lemon,
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 10-12 cashews,
  • 1/2 tsp ghee
  • to taste salt

Instructions

  • For Making Chura Matar take 1 cup flattened Rice (poha)and wash it properly with water 1-2 times, remove the excess water and keep in aside. Heat a pan and add 2 tbsp oil to it, once the oil gets heated add 10-12 cashews and fry them till they turn golden brown and keep them aside.
  • further to the oil add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 1/2 inch chopped ginger,2-3 chopped green chillies, pinch of hing and saute them for few seconds on medium flame. Now add 1 cup green peas and mix it nicely.
  • Saute the peas for 2-3 minutes.Once the peas are done, to it add salt as per taste,1 tsp sugar, 1/2 tsp garam masala,1/2 tsp black pepper and add poha to it.
  • Mix all the ingredients nicely and add 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves, 1 juice of lemon,1/2 tsp ghee, fried cashews and mix well. Chura Matar is ready to serve.

Notes/Tips

If using fresh green peas add 1/2 cup water and cover it add cook the peas until it gets soft..
