A simple, quick and easy fish recipe with minimal ingredients. It is a flavorful fish curry with goodness of curry leaves, a very healthy dish, perfect with piping hot steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • 6 pieces fish
  • 2 cups curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoon crushed garlic
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Water as required
  • Salt as per taste
  • ¼ cup oil

Instructions

  • Make a paste of the curry leaves with 1 cup of water. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. When the oil is hot add 1 tsp turmeric powder, salt to taste and the fish pieces.
  • Fry the fish slightly in the hot oil for about 2 minutes. Do not brown the fish. Drain the fish and keep aside.
  • In the same oil add the crushed garlic and saute for 1 minute.
  • Add salt to taste and the curry leaves paste and let it come to a boil.
  • Add the fried fishes, some water as required. Cover the pan and cook on high heat for 12-15 minutes.
  • Add salt if required and adjust the gravy consistency as per your requirement and take off the heat.

Notes/Tips

Use any fish of your choice with or without bones. You can add chillies as required - fresh green chilly or chilly powder
