Dal Palak is Indian dish made with spinach ,lentil, spices and herb. This traditional delicious , healthy and protein rich spinach dal is one of the many ways lentils are consume in India. Their is nothing more comfortable than bowl of hot dal palak with rice , roti and bhakari. Made with minimal amount of spices, this spinach dal is super flavorful, tasty, low calorie , fiber and protein rich that suits everyone.

Ingredients

  • For dal : 1 tsp Ghee,
  • 1 cup washed Tovar dal, slightly soaked
  • 1 cup washed Masoor dal, slightly soaked
  • 1 cup washed Yellow moong dal, slightly soaked
  • 1 tsp Degi red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • ½ cup fresh Tomato puree
  • 2 cups fresh Spinach leaves, chopped
  • Water as per needed
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • For Tadka 1 tbsp Oil
  • ½ tsp Cumin seeds
  • Dry red chilli, cut into half
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • ½ tsp Degi red chilli powder
  • For Garnish chopped Coriander

Instructions

  • 1. In a cooker add ghee, soaked tovar dal, masoor dal, yellow moong dal and mix it well, add turmeric powder, a pinch of asafoetida , salt to taste and water. Cover it with the lid and cook until it’s done.
  • Start preparing for the tadka. In a non-stick pan, add ghee, cumin seeds and let it splutter. Add a pinch of asafoetida, garlic saute until light brown.
  • Add onion and saute it well, add green chilli, degi red chilli powder. Turmeric powder, a pinch of asafoetida, coriander powder and saute it well.
  • Add little ghee and saute for a minute. Add fresh tomato puree and saut on medium flame
  • Now, add chopped spinach and cook until it’s done.
  • Add Cooked dal and water into it. Mix everything well and bring to boil .
  • Garnish with chopped coriander.
