Today I made a Dalit Sheera for the prasada in the temple of the South. Very healthy and you can make a little thin kheer by adding more milk if you want.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup daliya
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • 3 cup water
  • 1 cup jaggery
  • 1 tsp cardamom, nutmeg, alum powder

Instructions

  • In a similar pan, fry daliya on low heat till it turns reddish.
  • Heat water in a pan. When the water is hot, add roasted daliya and mix well. Cover and cook on low flame for 15-20 minutes.
  • Then remove the lid, add jaggery and ghee and cook for 15 minutes.
  • In a bowl, grind cardamom powder, nutmeg and alum. Pour in the above mixture. Cover once again and remove the steam. This created a daliya sheera.
