Ingredients

  • Maida (refined flour)
  • salt
  • baking powder
  • water
  • ghee/ oil
  • vanilla ice- cream
  • sugar
  • honey

Instructions

  • Add maid, salt and baking powder in a bowl. Mix well
  • Add water and knead into a soft dough. (soft like chapati dough)
  • cover and keep it aside for 20 minutes
  • Form small balls from the dough (like in the case of a roti) roll out the dough just as thick as a roti
  • cut out thin strips from the rolled out dough
  • heat oil/ ghee in a kadai. ( i prefer to use ghee)
  • fry these strips in the hot ghee/ oil till golden in colour.
  • take a pan, put 1/8th cup sugar and 1/16th cup water. Boil this mixture till it forms into a thick syrup.
  • take this sugar syrup off the heat and add the honey and mix vigorously.
  • In the serving plate, keep your fried maida strips, pour the sugar-honey syrup on top.
  • Get a scoop of cold vanilla ice-cream and serve it on top of these fried maida strips drenched in sugar-honey syrup!!

Notes/Tips

1. This dessert is best enjoyed when served hot with the cold vanilla ice-cream. 2. Sprinkle white sesame seeds if you enjoy the nutty texture.
