- Add lentils into the slow cooker with 4 cups water. Add turmeric powder, garlic, tomatoes, onion, and salt into the slow cooker and stir well. Cover and cook on low for 5 hours. Heat vegetable oil in the pan over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot then turn off the heat and add cumin, garlic, and spices. Mix well. Stir prepared tempering into the hot lentil. Add cilantro and stir well.
- Cook lentils for another 1 hour to blend all flavors. Serve hot with rice and enjoy.
