Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup refind wheat flour (maida)
  • 1/2 cup semolina (sooji)
  • 1/2 Cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tsp carom seeds (Ajwain)
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 cup refined oil
  • As needed Water

Instructions

  • First, Take refind wheat flour, gram flour, semolina, carom seeds, refind oil and Salt in a bowl. Mix all ingredients together using your fingers untill mixture turns crumbly.
  • Add water in small incremental steps and knead it into smooth dough.
  • Make balls out of the dough and roll them like poori then cut into different emojis shapes. Like I have cut into wow, car, fish, like, love, heart, half moon, star, toffee, flower and teddy wear etc. Perforate them with knife or fork.
  • Now heat oil in a pan and put different shapes emojis mathri to fry. Fry them untill golden brown. Take out the mathri from the pan and let them cool down and to get the excess oil removed. Serve them with sauce or chutney and are great to have with tea.
