Modaks are steamed or fried dumplings made from rice flour, wheat flour or maida and have fillings including grated coconut, dried fruits and jaggery.

Ingredients

  • 1)Atta-4cup
  • 2) salt as required
  • 3)grated dry/fresh coconut-1cup
  • 4)elachi crushed-4
  • 5) water as required
  • 6) ghee-4table spoon
  • 7) sugar/jaggery as required
  • 8) oil

Instructions

  • 1)Dough:In a bowl, take atta,add salt and water and adjust consistency to make dough out of it and then make balls and roll into small size and keep it aside.
  • 2) Stuffing:Mix all ingredients like grated coconut, sugar/jaggery and elachi.
  • 3) Shaping:Make shapes of modak out of dough and fill the prepared stuffing that is kept aside.
  • 4) Frying: Deep fry modaks in oil.

Notes/Tips

1) Can make use of maida instead of atta. 2)Can make use of jaggery instead of sugar.
