Gulab Jamun is most popular dessert in India. Its a deep fried balls of Mawa dipped in sugar syrup. I have used home made mawa/khoya for the recipe but one can use the store brought mawa.

Ingredients

  • Khoya / Mawa - 400 gm
  • Paneer - 200 gm
  • Maida - 2tbsp
  • Sugar- 2 Cups
  • Water- 1 Cup (for sugar syrup)
  • Cardamom powder- 1/4 tsp
  • Ghee / Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • 1. Mash Mawa / Khoya and Paneer with your palm separately for few minutes. 2. Mix both the ingredients and add maida and mix well till you get smooth consistency. 3. Take small portion of the mawa mix and make balls with your hands, 4. Heat Oil in Kadhai and oil should be medium hot. 5. Add the mawa balls in the oil and fry it at low heat till golden brown. 6. Dip the hot gulab Jamun into the warm sugar syrup and cover. 7. After an hour Gulab Jamun is ready to serve. For Sugar Syrup 1. In a large pan add sugar , water and cardamom powder and bring to a boil. 2. Make a one string Syrup which will get ready in 5-7 minutes

Notes/Tips

1. If Oil is too hot switch off the stove for few minutes 2. When oil is heated just add one mawa balls to check if its not spreading. If the balls are not intact add a tbsp of Maida in the mawa dough.
