  • Fresh green peas
  • Water
  • Salt
  • Baking soda
  • Ghee
  • Mixed dry fruits
  • Jaggery cut into pieces
  • Unsweetened khoya/milk solid
  • Green cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Boli the peas in 2cups of boiling water along with a pinch of salt and baking soda for 5 mints. Rinse and drain the peas with cool water. Now in a blender grind to a coarse puree along with 2tbsp of water.
  • In a saucepan heat the jaggery with 1/2 cup of water. Stir until the jaggery is completely dissolved. Strain the syrup to remove impurities. Heat 1tbsp ghee in a heavy bottom pan and fry the dry fruits, drain and set aside.
  • In the same pan add another table spoon of ghee. Add the pea puree and stir fry on medium low heat for about 10 mint. The mixture will thicken gradually. Add jaggery syrup and continue to stir for another 10 mints.
  • The halwa will darken in colour and start to glisten. Add fried nuts along with the crumbled khoya . Continue to stir for another 5-6 mints. Add last table spoon of ghee and the ground cardamom.
  • Stir for a few minutes until the halwa absorbs the ghee, turn off the heat. Serve hot and enjoy.
