Ingredients

  • All purpose flour- 1.5 cups
  • Sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Yogurt
  • Milk
  • Oil
  • Cardamom essence
  • Rose essence
  • Whipping cream
  • Gulab jamun
  • Gulab jamun syrup
  • Rose petals dried
  • Yellow colour

Instructions

  • First take all the dry ingredients and shift them before mixing them together.
  • Then take oil, yogurt, sugar, salt, cardamom essence and rose essence together and mix until the sugar melts.
  • Mix the dry ingredients to it batch by batch and fold gently.
  • Transfer it in a cake tin and bake in a preheated oven for 30 to 35 mins at 180°C until the toothpick comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake, cool it completely add then unmould it.
  • Next, whip the cream till stiff, add yellow colour and few drops of rose essence to it.
  • Trim the cake and make two layers.
  • Soak one layer with the sugar syrup that comes along with the gulab jamuns.
  • Spread some cream and arrange few cut pieces of gulab jamuns on it.
  • Now, place the other layer of the cake over it and cover the whole cake with cream.
  • Let it chill for 30mins.
  • Decorate the cake with gulab jamun and rose petals.

Notes/Tips

Notes 1. It's important to chill the cake after covering the whole cake with cream and then decorate. 2. Decorate the cake, the way you like. You can use pistachios, silver foils, saffron strands and other dry fruits for decoration. 3. If you don't have rose essence, you can skip it and use cardamom essence or vanilla essence. 4. You can skip the yellow colour also.
