  • Salt
  • Cheese of any kind
  • For Tempering 1 tsp mustard seeds,
  • Finely sliced veggies(Onions, bell peppers,carrots
  • Ginger garlic paste
  • Red Chilli sauce
  • Green Chilli sauce
  • Tomato Ketchup
  • Soya sauce
  • Pasta Sauce (optional)
  • Oil

Instructions

  • This is a quick breakfast recipe of Paniyaram which is healthy and easy to make with a twist in its taste.
  • Mix Samolina, curd & salt in a bowl. Add water to form a batter similar to idli batter. Keep it undisturbed for 10 minutes to let semolina absorb water.
  • Heat up paniyaram/ appe pan and grease it with oil. Take your appe batter and adjust the consistency by adding more water if needed. Now prepare a tempering in a small pan by heating 2 tsp oil and add all the ingredients of tempering mentioned above.
  • Now pour the prepared tempering into the batter. Finally add fruit salt to the batter and mix gently.
  • Fill in your prepared batter in your appe pan and insert small cubes of cheese into each. You can avoid cheese if you are on diet. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook from one side.
  • Now after 5 minutes, invert each appe and cook for another 5-7 minutes. Remove from flame when they are cooked and turn slightly golden on both sides.
  • Heat up oil in another pan or woke and add veggies to it. Stir fry them on high flame for 3-4 minutes. Add all sauces to it and give it a good mix. Add in all your appe to the prepared sauce and mix gently so as to avoid breaking of appe in hot sauce.
  • Let the sauce gets coated well on each appe. Serve hot with mayonnaise, cheesy dip or any dip of your choice. Here I have served with a dip prepared by blending mayonnaise, tomato ketchup and black pepper.
  • Your sumptuous and quick breakfast of fusion appe- a humble mix of South Indian spices and Chinese sauces, are ready.

Notes/Tips

Here I have prepared Samolina Appe to make a quick breakfast . However they can also be prepared in authentic South Indian style with fermented batter of rice and skinned black gram.
