Kalo Jam

  • 3/4 cup milk powder
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/8 cup fine samolina
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ghee
  • 3-4 tbsp milk
  • A few drops of Red food colour
  • 2 tbsp desiccated coconut for garnish
  • Oil for frying
  • For sugar syrup :
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 1 Cup water
  • Pistachio slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Add milk powder, all purpose flour, semolina, baking powder, ghee and mix well by hand.
  • Add a little milk, red food colour, mix. (Do not rub) Cover and set aside.
  • For the sugar syrup: Put water and sugar in a bowl and cook for a string consistency.
  • Apply ghee on your hands and make uniform balls of the mixture. Then take the balls and shape them oval by hand.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry these balls over low heat till they are well browned.
  • When it turns brown, remove and put in a sugar syrup bowl.
  • Remove from the sugar syrup and place in a dish. Add dryfruits on top and serve.
  • I removed the sugar syrup from the pan, mixed in the desicated coconut and garnished with pistachio slices.

Notes/Tips

You can serve this kalo jam with pistachio slices for garnish or mix it with desicated coconut.
