Methi paratha are Indian flatbreads made with whole wheat flour, spices and fenugreek leaves aka methi leaves. These healthy, delicious & flavorful parathas are iron rich & make for a great breakfast or any time meal. “Methi” is a Hindi word for “fenugreek and “Paratha” is a word for “flatbreads”.

  • Maida/aata /all purpose flour- 2 Cup
  • Kasuri Methi/fenugreek leaves -4 tbsp
  • Ajwain/ Ajowan caraway-2 tsp
  • Oil as required
  • Green chilli -4-5 grated
  • Garlic/lehsun -5-6 grated
  • Dhaniya powder -2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Haldi powder/ turmeric powder

Instructions

  • Boil kasuri methi/fenugreek leaves with 1 tsp of salt in it. And strain the water from it then keep it aside.
  • Take a bowl then take 2 cup of maida/aata in it and add grated garlic, grated green chilli, turmeric powder, dhaniya powder, ajwain, oil 1tbsp, boiled methi, and salt to taste. Then kneed the dough.
  • Take the dough and divide it into equal parts and make pedas of it.
  • Heat the pan and roll the pedas in circular motion like roti.
  • Put the paratha on the pan and broil/sekna the paratha both the sides properly.
  • When it is cooked properly then add a tablespoon of oil and broil it till it turn little brown and cooked both sides properly.
  • Make all the paratha in the same way.

Notes/Tips

1. Add salt while boiling the methi as it removes the bitter taste from it. 2. Serve with pickles .
