  • Sattu

  • Asafoetida

Instructions

  • Litti Chokha a bihari dish. Which have sattu,whole wheat and boiled potato. It has sattu which reduces cholesterol. Sattu is high in dietary fibre, which can help lower cholesterol and protect your heart.
  • Usually in Bihar in litti chokha people uses musturd oil but I have gave some twist with olive oil for heart healthy dish. I used olive oil in chokha. Chokha made by eggplant which is also very good for heart.
  • Eggplant reduces the level of bad cholesterol in the body, which keeps the heart healthy. The blood circulation in the body also improves by eating brinjal
  • Due to the presence of Potassium and Magnesium in the vegetable, cholesterol levels can be kept in check. Brinjal is also considered to be a good source of energy
  • Knead soft dough of wheat flour with salt and little bit ghee.
  • For stuffing take 2 cups of sattu (roasted black chickpeas flour) add 1 tsp dhaniya powder, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp garam masala 1/4 tsp asafoetida 1/2 tsp fennel powder 1/2 tsp amchoor powder, 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder salt according to taste,
  • some chopped green chillies, onions, ginger - garlic and coriander leaves and 1 tsp olive oil. Mix all together .
  • Take small ball sized dough in your hands,flatten with your fingers and add stuffing into the center. Close all edges together and give shape of ball.
  • Take a pan add 1 tsp olive oil add 3 cups water and boil, once the water boil add litties into boiling water. And boil for 5 minutes in medium flame. After 5 minutes remove balls from boiling water.
  • Take appe pan greased with olive oil and put litties on it and bake in medium to slow flame from both sides. Brush some more oil and bake until light golden brown colour. Once they cooked take them out and cook again direct on gas. Its ready
  • For baigan (brinjal) ka chokha Riast brinjal on gas flame until get soft. Peal the upper layer of brinjal perfectly and mashed with masher. Add all spices same as littie's with 1tbsp of lemon juice and 1 tsp of oil. Mix all together

Notes/Tips

You can make littis before time too. When you want to serve hot. Just give second bake onbgas and serve hot. It's sounds difficult but actually it's very easy. But yess it takes little more time. But I am sure you will love it.
