  • Maida 1 cup
  • Ghee 2tbsp
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Few drops lemon juice
  • Elaichi powder 1 tsp
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Water

Instructions

  • Mix maida and ghee well.
  • Add water to make a stiff dough. Smear oil and rest for 10 mins.
  • Make sugar syrup of one string consistency . Add lemon juice drops and elaichi powder.
  • Knead the dough. Roll as thin as possible using rolling pin.
  • Cut the edges and make a square.
  • Start rolling from one side and after each roll sprinkle maida.
  • Cut 1 inch pieces and press them flat with finger.
  • Deep fry in hot oil. Soak in warm sugar syrup.

Notes/Tips

By adding lemon juice drops to sugar syrup, it will not get crystallised. Keep the flame low once oil gets heated for deep frying.
