A new dal recipe using methi which is healthy

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch methi or fenugreek leaves
  • 1 cup tuvar dal
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 5-6 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion
  • Bunch coriander
  • Small lemon size tamarind
  • Pinch hing
  • 4 green chillies, 2 redchillies
  • Tempering- 1tsp mustard seeds
  • 1tsp urad dal & 1tsp cumin seeds

Instructions

  • Take pressure cooker add 1tbs oil. Once oil is hot add chopped garlic and add mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, green chillies and red chillies. Then add washed methi leaves and coriander leaves
  • Saute once dal is golden add onions and saute then add tuvar dal and fry for few minutes. Add chopped tomatoes stir fry. Add 3 cups water and cover. Bring to 3 to 4 whistles. Dal shouldnt be mushy so dont give more whistles. Finally add tamarind juice and 2tsp salt and cook for few more minutes.

Notes/Tips

Serve it with jeera rice and roti
