- Soak moong dal for two-three hours. Then rinse well and drain the excess water. Take a pan and add one cup of water. Add the dal and cook covered for 10 minutes. Take a large bowl and add moong dal after draining out the water. Then add red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, garlic, green chilli and onion. Grind them into a thick smooth paste. Take a bowl, add all-purpose flour and ghee. Now add water to make a dough. While adding water you need to be careful, simply because adding too much water at a time can spoil the taste and texture of the puri. Then, make small balls out of the dough and add a spoonful of the prepared mixture. Roll into puris. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame and deep fry the puris till golden brown in colour. Remove the excess oil by placing puris on tissue paper and serve hot.
