- Heat the pan and add 1 or 2 tsp of ghee to it. Then add the makhana and the dry fruits such as cashew and almonds and roast it until the makhana turns crispy.
- Then take out the makhana from the pan and keep aside. Then add a bit of ghee to the pan and add the bay leafs and roast for a minute, then add 1 cup of milk to the pan And stir for few minutes.
- Then add the makhana to the milk and stir it for sometime until it starts to soften. Then add the crushed cardamom pods into the milk , and also the condensed milk. Condensed milk is optional it is just to enhance the taste.
- Then add rest of the milk to it and stir it until all the makhanas are soft and the milk turns a bit thick. Then add the dry fruits to it and a tsp of ghee. Then turn off the gas and add the raisins and nolen gud or jaggery as per the taste of sweetness.
- Nolen Gud makhana kheer is ready to be served. In order to make it more healthy I substituted sugar to Jaggery. This recipe can be a very good start to the day with healthy makhana. It is tasty too. One can have it as a desert also after meal.
