Ingredients

  • Rice flour
  • Milk
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Chana dal
  • Sugar
  • Cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Pour milk in a large vessel and let it boil over medium flame. Add sugar in it with a pinch of salt and mix well. Now, slowly put rice flour in the milk and keep stirring to avoid lumps. Mix nicely and turn off the flame. Cover with a lid and keep aside. Add chana dal with water in a pressure cooker and place the cooker over medium flame. Cook till you hear 3 whistles and then, turn off the flame. Let the steam release on its own and drain the water. Add the cooked dal in a deep pan and mash it with the help of a masher. Place the deep pan on the burner and heat it on medium flame. Add sugar, a pinch of salt and cardamom powder. Mix well and let it cook till the mixture becomes thick. Then, mash it again and take out on a plate and let it cool down. Once the temperature comes down to normal, make small bite-sized balls out of it and keep separately on a plate. Next, make outer coating using the rice flour mixture and then put the sweet dal mixture as a filling in each of the balls. Do this for the whole dough. Heat coconut oil in a pan over medium flame and deep-fry the balls from both the sides. Make sure that you fry them batch by batch, Take out the balls on a tissue paper to soak excess oil and serve warm.
