Ingredients

  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1/2 cup poha or flattened rice
  • 1 onion chopped finely
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 green chillies chopped finely
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 1 cheese cube grated
  • As needed breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp maida
  • 2 tbsp coriander chopped

Instructions

  • Boil potatoes, peel and mash.Grind poha to a fine powder.Mix it to the mashed potato.Add finely chopped green chillies,red chilli flakes,chopped onion,ginger garlic paste, salt to taste,chaat masala,and chopped coriander. Mix all to form a smooth dough.Divide the dough into lemon sized round balls.Grate cheese and set aside.
  • Press each ball and fill it with grated cheese.Close each ball and give a smooth round shape. Make a slurry of cornflour and maida.Dip each ball in the slurry and coat with breadcrumbs. Double coat each ball to get a crunchy outer crust. Refrigerate for an hour before frying.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the balls golden brown till it has a crunchy outer crust and soft inside.A bite into this extremely flavourful snack and you get the feel of melted cheese inside your mouth.Serve hot as a rainy day snack with a cup of tea or coffee or as an appetizer at parties with onion rings and hot and sweet tomato sauce or any dips of choice.
