Ingredients

  • 2 cup boiled potato (grated)
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp Corn flour/ rice flour
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • Firstly in a large mixing bowl take 2 cups boiled and grated potato
  • Further add 1/4 cup bread crumbs, 2 tbsp corn flour, 1/2 tsp chilli powder, and salt to taste.
  • Combine all ingredients well add more bread crumbs if required.
  • Form a soft non sticky dough.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes this prevents smiley from breaking in oil and retain its shape.
  • Now take a large ball sized prepared potat dough and flatten slightly thick.
  • Cut round using a cookie cutter or a glass.
  • Also using a straw make a eyes and use spoon to make a smile.
  • Deep fry the potato smiley in hot oil till it turns golden and crisp.
  • Stir occasionally and fry till golden brown keeping the flame on medium.
  • Finally serve potato smiley with tomato sauce or chutney / eggless mayonnaise.
