Ingredients

  • Raw banana
  • Chana dal
  • Royal garam masala
  • Red dry chillies
  • Garlic cloves
  • Chopped onions
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • Roasted zeera
  • Roasted dhanya seeds
  • Roasted fennel seeds
  • Salt

Instructions

  • The first step is to soak chana dal for 45 minutes and cook it until partially cooked. Do not make it completely soft. You can use pressure cooker for this
  • Once dal is done add peeled and sliced raw banana into it.
  • Add all the roasted spices, dry chillies, garlic and all the spices . Except onion and coriander leaves
  • Again cook all the ingredients in the same pot with dal and with 1 or 2 whistles in the pressure cooker it will be done.
  • There should be no moisture in the mixture when you grind it. It should be completely dry. Now cool the mixture and grind it to a smooth texture.
  • Now add chopped coriander leaves and chopped onions and mix it well using a flat spatula. Use a little oil for binding
  • You can add a little besan if you feel you're unable to handle it or the mixture is a bit runny.
  • The mixture will be handy if you refrigerate it for 15-20 minutes
  • Make tikkis of your desired shape. Freeze them for 5 minutes. Shallow fry carefully each side one time.
  • Dont keep on turning over
  • Enjoy with sliced onions and a dash of lemon.
  • For extra spice love you can add chopped green chillies in the mixture.
  • Totally a winner recipe, do try out. Completely vegan.

Notes/Tips

Using pressure cooker is quite time consuming . Use plastic bowls and spatula for binding. Completely soak the moisture before grinding the mixture
