Kheer is a staple in any Indian household. For Valentine's Day, I tried to make this Rose flavoured Kheer. The beautiful pink color is just the perfect color for the festival of love.

Ingredients

  • Full Fat Milk - 1litre
  • Rice (preferably Joha) - 150gms
  • Cardamom - 3-4
  • Red Food Colour - few drops
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup (or as per taste)
  • Rose Essence - Few Drops
  • Red Food Colour - Few Drops
  • Dried Rose Petals
  • Few Cashews
  • Few Raisins

Instructions

  • In a heave bottom pan, heat milk till it comes to a boil. Simmer the heat. Add cardamom and bay leaves.
  • In low flame let the milk reduce till it becomes half. Keep on scraping the sides and bottom so that the milk doesn't burn.
  • When the milk is reduced to half, add the rice. Keep on stirring in intervals. Add the Cashews and mix
  • When the rice is completely cooked, add sugar and mix well.
  • Add Raisins, rose essence, food color and dried rose petals and mix well.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool before serving.
