Sweet Vada

Ingredients

  • Urad dal - 200mg
  • Jaggery - 175mg
  • Oil - as required
  • Raw rice - 3 tbsp

Instructions

  • Soak urad dal and raw rice for 2 hours.
  • Grind them. (Important Note:without adding water)
  • Grind them to a coarse thick paste.Add jaggery to the coarse batter little by little.(secret tip)
  • Now grind them to a fine paste.
  • Take a pan, heat the oil.
  • Take lemon size urad dal paste, flatten it and drop slowly it into the heated oil.
  • Fry them well on both sides till they get golden brown color. (Note: Fry them in a medium flame, so that vada will be well cooked)
  • Remove them with a strainer. Hot hot sweet vada is ready to be munched!!

Notes/Tips

Furthermore, the beauty of this sweet urad vada is we can have it super hot crispy, or soft cold bondas with banana. My amma used to mix these leftover sweet vadas with banana and ghee, which tastes super yum, a perfect kids snack. These sweet vada stay good until the next day at room temperature. Also, you can also add few additions like coconut scraps or almond flakes in the batter depends on your preference.
