Sweet potato tikki

Ingredients

  • Sweet potatoes
  • Rice flour
  • Red chilli powder
  • Garam masala
  • Turmeric
  • Chat masala
  • Salt
  • Oil

Instructions

  • Pressure the sweet potatoes until soft , mash it and set aside.
  • In a bowl take rice flour, all masala powders, salt and then mashed potatoes. Knead it in to a soft dough.
  • Make small balls out of it. Slightly press to make disc and pan fry it until tikkis turn golden brown.
  • Serve hot with mint chutney along with piping hot chai

Notes/Tips

Potato tikki is popular north indian snack recipe. Here for a healthy change , I have used sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes,as sweet potato is highly nutritious food contains vitamins, minerals, fibre , antioxidants and beta carotine. Research shows that sweet potatoes can lower your LDL "bad" cholesterol, which may lower your odds of heart problems. Also I have not deep fried the Tikkis , I have pan-fried it with very little oil without compromising it's taste.
