Thandai is a very refreshing summer drink made using dry fruits, seeds and some aromatic spices. It is specially made during Holi but many of us relish it during the whole summer month because it has a very cooling effect on the body❄️.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp almond
  • 2 tbsp cashews
  • 2 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1/4 cup melon seeds
  • 2tbsp dried rose petals
  • 1tbsp fennel seeds
  • 1/2 tsp whole black pepper
  • 3-4 green cardamom
  • Saffron
  • 6-8 glasses milk
  • Ice cubes as required
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Dried rose petals for garnish
  • Chopped almonds for garnish

Instructions

  • In a bowl add 1 cup warm water and add almonds, cashews, poppy seeds, melon seeds, dries rose petals, fennel seeds and black pepper
  • Mix well, cover and keep it aside for 1-2 hrs.
  • After 1-2 hrs add the whole mixture including the water, sugar, cardamom seeds and saffron into the mixer grinder and grind well.
  • To make thandai now add the thandai paste 2-3 tbsp ( or according to your own convenience) in a glass, add milk and mix well
  • Add ice cubes, garnish with rose petals, almonds and serve chilled

Notes/Tips

Peel the almonds and then add if you want. You can replace cashews with pistachios also if you want to.
