Ingredients

  • Tomato 3
  • Garlic cloves 3
  • Onion 1
  • Cinnamon sticks 1
  • Cloves 2
  • Black pepper 2
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Star anise 1
  • Black cardamom 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Hing 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Fresh coriander 2 tbsp

Instructions

  • In pressure cooker add tomato, onion, garlic and whole spices with water cook for 3 whistles.
  • Release the pressure, remove whole spices and blend it well.
  • Do the seasoning and boil for 15 minutes
  • Do the tempering and garnish with fresh coriander.
  • Serve it hot with any salty biscuits or crackers or mathari.

Notes/Tips

Add sugar if tomatoes are sour in taste.
