Turai masala (ridge gourd curry)

Ingredients

  • 250 gms turai(ridge gourd)
  • 1 cup fresh grated coconut
  • 1 big tomato
  • 6-7 garlic cloves
  • 4-5 black pepper corns
  • 1 and 1/2 tspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 kokum
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin and mustard seeds
  • 1 chopped onion

Instructions

  • Chop turai in long pieces. In a mixer, jar adds fresh coconut, red chilli powder, red chilli powder, kokum, garlic cloves, black peppercorns. Blend to smooth paste.
  • In a deep pan add oil, once hot add mustard and cumin seeds. let it splutter. Add chopped onion saute well. Add blended paste.mix well
  • Saute till it leaves oil. Add chopped turai.mix well. add water and salt. Cover it with a lid cook for 10 minutes or till it cooks perfectly.
  • Enjoy hot with anything.
