Upma Kozhakattai (rice Dumplings)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup - raw rice
  • 1 tablespoon - Toordal
  • 1 tsp - jeera/ cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - pepper
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - channa dal
  • 1.5 tsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - hing
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves few
  • Water as required

Instructions

  • In a mixer jar add rice, toor dal, jeera, pepper and pulse to get a rava texture.
  • In a pan add oil, let it get heated add mustard, let it splutter well add channa dal, once it changes colour add 2 cups of water, hing, salt, curry leaves.
  • Once water boils well add the rice rava and stir well to make an upma consistency.
  • Let it cool down.
  • Boil water in steamer, Grease a plate with oil. Make dumplings and steam for 15-20 minutes.
  • Once done serve with chutney / sambar.
