- Wash and drain the flattened rice Into a mixer jar add the wheat flour, flattened rice, grated coconut, yeast, salt, sugar and water as required Blend well Transfer the batter into a bowl Keep the batter aside for at least 8 hours for it to rise After 8 hours, mix well Heat an appam pan and pour 2 ladles of batter Rotate the pan to spread the batter; Let it cook till edges comes up. Serve hot with chutney.
