- heat a pan over medium flame and add the wheat. Roast until it turns golden. Remove when done, and cool it down. Then grind into a fine powder. Then take a large bowl and add the wheat powder,cardamom powder, salt and sprinkle enough water. Add coconut and mix well. Add this to the puttu maker and squeeze to form cylindrical shapes. Steam cook the prepared puttus. Sprinkle a little sugar on top of the steamed puttus and serve with dip or chutney of your choice.
