  • For the daal:
  • Arhaar dal 1/2cup
  • Moong daal 2tblspn
  • Masoor daal 2tbkspn
  • Salt To taste
  • Oil 1tsp
  • For the dumplings:
  • Whole wheat flour 1cup
  • Salt 1/2tsp
  • Carom seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
  • Gram flour 1tblspn
  • For the tadka:
  • Ghee 2tbsp
  • Dried red chilli 1
  • Cummin seeds 1/2tsp
  • Black mustered seeds Pinch of
  • Kadi leaves 5-6
  • Finely chopped garlic 1/2tsp
  • Finely chopped ginger 1/2tsp
  • Asafoetidita Pinch of
  • Medium size chopped tomato 1
  • Onion finely chopped 1/2tblspn
  • Coriander powder 1/2tsp
  • Cumin pwdr 1/2tsp
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder 1/2tsp
  • Garam masala pwdr 1/2tsp

Instructions

  • Mix the wheat flour and 2tblspn gram flour along with pinch of salt, carom seeds, turmeric powder With Enough water to make a firm dough, and set aside. In a pressure cooker, add all the ingredients for the dal with 1.5 cup of water and pressure cook.
  • After the first whistle, lower the flame and pressure cook for 3-4 more whistles. This helps the dal come to a thick soupy consistency. Meanwhile roll the dough and cut roundels with glass or cookie cutters.
  • To shape the dumpling, lift opposite sides and bring together at the centre, then lift the other two ends and bring it to the centre, giving it a flower-like shape.The hollow shape of the flowers allows the dal to enter the dumpling and become soft.
  • After the dal is cooked, open the pressure cooker. If the dal has thickened too much, you can add a little water until it reaches the consistency of soup.
  • Now for tadka heat ghee in A kadai add dried red chilli, cummin seeds, black mustered seeds, kadi leaves, pinch of asafoetidita, add finely chopped garlic,ginger lets aroma comes out.
  • Now add finely chopped onion, fry and add chopped tomato. Add coriander powder, cumin pwdr, kashmiri red chilli powder and Mix well. add the prepared dal. Bring it to boil and Gently lower the dumplings in.
  • Simmer the dal for another 10-12 minutes on medium flame, until the dumplings are cooked through. After dumplings get cooked add Garam masala and 1spoon ghee. Serve hot.
