Ingredients

  • Sugar half cup
  • water 1 cup
  • milk powder or dairy whitener 40 gm
  • saffron pinch
  • Cardamom powder pinch
  • food color (optional) lime colour
  • cloves 7-8
  • crushed pistachios or any dry fruit (optional) 1 tbsp

Instructions

  • Magic syrup : Boil the water , sugar , cardamom powder , saffron for 6-7 mins to make a syrup on medium high flame.
  • Put the flame on lowest . Now add 1 tbsp ghee/butter , milk powder spoon by spoon and stir simultaneously in Magic syrup we prepared in step #1 . The consistency should be like a paste. Do not make it thick like a dough.
  • keep stirring for a minute then put the flame off, take out mixture into a bowl and leave till it comes to room temperature.
  • Now put on some ghee/Butter to your hands and start making peda shaped balls . Attach a clove per ball as shown in picture . Our Jhatpat Mithai is ready !!!
  • Optional step is to colour the balls with food color.

Notes/Tips

Do not put much butter or ghee to the mixture otherwise it won't hold the shape. Also taste the food color before applying since it may contain salt . You can apply food color by mixing it into a little water and paint with brush hor fingers.
