Ingredients

  • Green gram (moong dal) 1 cup (200 gm)
  • Ghee 50 ml
  • Milk 400 ml
  • Water 100 ml
  • Warm milk 2 tsp
  • Saffron 1 pinch
  • Cardamom powder 1/4 tsp
  • Pistachios 12 nos
  • Almonds 12 nos
  • Sugar 250 gm

Instructions

  • Soak moong dal for 2-3 hours
  • Drain all the water and grind coarsely, Keep aside.
  • Dissolve saffron in 2 tsp warm milk
  • Melt ghee in a pan, add ground moong dal, stir continuously till golden brown.
  • In a thick bottom pan combine milk and water . Add prepared dal when it gets warm. Stir well.
  • Add sugar, cook in low flame till ghee separates.
  • Lastly add dissolved saffron and cardamom powder, mix well, cook for a while.
  • Now add nuts.
  • Tasty moong dal Halwa is ready to serve. Serve warm.

Notes/Tips

Dry roast dal for good fragrance.
