My warm bowl of khichadi

  • Moong dal 1 cup
  • Rice 1/4 th cup

Instructions

  • Wash moong dal and rice thoroughly with water. Keep them to boil in a pressure cooker with 3 cups of water ,a tsp salt and a tsp ghee , for 10 minutes on low flame or till 3-4 wistles on high flame.
  • Chop 1 large onion ,a large potato, some green chillies, tomatoes 2-3, and any other vegies or your choice and depending on season like loki, peas, culiflower , et c. Take a pan . Add 2 tbsp oil . Once heated add cumin seeds and chopped vegetables.
  • Add salt as per taste , haldi powder a tsp, coriander powder a tsp , red chilli powder 2 tsp. Give th a mix. Add one cup water and let them cook. Once the vegetables are cooked, add the khichadi form cooker to the mix and mix them all well.
  • Turn off the stove . Add lemon juice, garam masala , and some chopped coriander. Aerve it hot.

Notes/Tips

Add 3 times water to the quantity of dal and rice together.
