  • OATS 300 GMS
  • GREEN MOONG 100 GMS
  • CHOPPED CARROTS 1CUP
  • PEAS 1CUP
  • GREEN CHILLIES 3
  • RED CHILLI POWDER 1TSP
  • GINGER GARLIC PASTE 1TBSP
  • CHOPPED ONIONS 1 CUP
  • CHOPPED TOMATOES 1CUP
  • CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES FEW STRANDS
  • SALT AS PER TASTE
  • OIL 1 CUP
  • ROYAL GARAM MASALA 1 TBSP

Instructions

  • YOU NEED TO SOAK GREEN MOONG FOR ATLEAST 4 HOURS AND ROAST THE OATS UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN
  • I am making this in apressure cooker. you can use cooking pot too you can also use instant pot also.
  • heat oil and add onions and green chillies and sute for 5 minutes
  • then add green moong and ginger garlic paste and saute for 5minutes
  • now add tomatoes,carrots and peas and saute on medium flame.
  • a main ingredient i missed to mention is butter milk. which is used instead of water.. this gives a wonderful flavour to your khichdi. you will need 1 litre of butter milk water level should 2 inch above the level of oats once added.
  • so now once the veggies are cooked add all the dry spices including salt. saute another 5 minutes until it seperates oil
  • at this point you need to add oats and mix every thing well for 2 minutes.
  • now add required buttermilk and bring it to boil. keep stirring until it brings boil.
  • once it gets aboil close the lid of the pressure cooker. give 1 whistle and give dum after closing the flame for 15 minutes
  • serve with mint chutney or mint raita

Notes/Tips

soaking the moong is very important roasting oats is compulsary too other wise you will end up making a porridge. a super combination of this khichdi that it can be served with grilled chicken. i am sure you will forget your regular khichdi
